Masterclass success at Welford Road

Boris Stankovich, Mathew Tait, Craig Newby and Jeremy Staunton passed on their expert tips in a series of Tigers Masterclasses at Welford Road this week.

Each player provided guidance in a different aspect of the game, showing young players the techniques they have learned in their professional careers with Leicester Tigers.

Tait, who has scored five tries in 20 starts for Tigers this season and been capped 38 times by England, worked on unit skills with the backs, while prop Stankovich focused on the work of the forwards, including the scrum and lineout.

Newby, a former All Blacks back-rower, passed on his knowledge on contact and breakdown skills, with fly-half Staunton leading the kicking sessions at the home of the Leicester Tigers.

Welford Road Masterclasses are for players in U11s to U16s age groups and are an excellent opportunity to learn and develop position-specific skills, and the perfect way to develop your game.

Players attending a masterclass receive a free junior ticket to an allocated first-team game at Welford Road next season as well as lunch on the day, a Rugby Camp T-shirt, a water bottle, a rugby ball and free membership to the Junior Tigers Club.

As well as the successful Masterclass series, there is also a full programme of Tigers Rugby Camps during the summer throughout the Tigers region, running over two, three, four and five days. More details are available by clicking here
