Match Highlights: Tigers record bonus-point win

Leicester Tigers welcomed Exeter Chiefs to Welford Road in the first home fixture of the 2019/20 season on Friday, September 27 in Round 2 of the Premiership Rugby Cup. The Tigers ran out 27-7 winners to record a bonus-point victory.

Guy Thompson crossed for the first try at home in the new season just two minutes in to the match, on the end of some impressive interplay between the Tigers backs to find space down the left wing.

Exeter hit back five minutes later with their first of the match to lead by two points, 5-7 after just eight minutes of play.

The home side were in again just fifteen minutes later after more impressive build-up from the Tigers forwards set up a chance, deep inside Exeter's 22 for the backs to find space down the left hand touch-line again where Jordan Olowofela scored in the corner.

Only nine minutes later and Leicester had their third, through Jonah Holmes, as the ball was moved to the right hand side on this occasion for the Welsh international to stroll over untouched.

Noel Reid converted the try to see Tigers out to a ten-point, 17-7 lead, where it would remain until the half-time break.

A penalty goal early saw the home side stretch their lead to 20-7 early in the second-half before a final and fourth try, which secured a bonus-point for Leicester, was scored in the final five minutes of the match by Kyle Eastmond after an impressive individual effort from replacement Tom Hardwick set up his team-mate in the corner.

The try was converted by Hardwick to see Tigers out to a 27-7 lead, where it would stay until full-time.
