Leicester Tigers defend an unbeaten start to the season with the long trip to Sandy Park, Exeter on Saturday (5.30pm).

After wins over London Irish, Harlequins and Wasps in the opening three rounds of the Aviva Premiership season, Tigers head to Devon to face an Exeter side who have already beaten Irish and Newcastle after a narrow opening-day defeat by Bath.

Chiefs boss Rob Baxter refers to Saturday’s game as an ‘acid test’ as the teams meet for the 51st time.

Tigers won at Sandy Park last season in Round 2 of the competition, with Anthony Allen and Ben Youngs providing the tries. Click here to re-live the action. http://www.leicestertigers.com/rugby/20708.php

“It’s always a tough place to go,” says Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill. “We’ve obviously got some old friends there in Julian Salvi, Geoff Parling and Thomas Waldrom who were all very good players for us.

“They’ve lost one from three but have 11 points which shows they’ve got some good form. So have we, so it should be a really good game.”

Tigers and Exeter have met 50 times, with Tigers winning 34 to 12, with four games drawn. The majority of those games have been played at Exeter, with Tigers winning 24 from previous 37 visits.

Match tickets are still available via the Exeter Chiefs ticket office.

Team line-ups are announced at noon on Friday.
