Match preview: Tigers v Warriors

Worcester Warriors provide the opposition for the last home game of the season at Welford Road on Saturday, in a game described as an "Aviva Premiership quarter-final" by Leicester Tigers boss Richard Cockerill.

Tigers require one win from two remaining games – the Round 22 fixture is away to Bath next Saturday – to secure a place in the knockout stages of the competition for a remarkable 12th successive year.

Following the disappointment of defeat in the European Champions Cup semi-final six days ago, director of rugby Cockerill said: “You get no time to sulk, and it’s not our style anyway. This is another big game for us – for me this is a quarter-final in the Premiership. If we win, we are into a semi-final. If we do not and leave it to the last day at Bath and it becomes more and more pressurised.”

Cockerill has confirmed that Freddie Burns and Manu Tuilagi will be missing from the Tigers line-up due to injury, and both teams are announced at noon on Friday.

Tigers won the first meeting of the sides this season with a late try from Lachlan McCaffrey sealing the bonus point in a 29-20 victory at Sixways. Click here for full details from that match.

Although Warriors have lost their last two league games, they have won two of their last three away from home, against Newcastle Falcons and Harlequins.

Referee this Saturday is Mr Greg Garner, in his 99th Premiership fixture.
