Matchday proposal tops great day out for fans

More than 23,000 supporters watched Leicester Tigers beat Harlequins at Welford Road on Saturday – and for two people the day was even more special as Grant Parker asked his partner Nicole a very important question.

Grant got down on one knee on the Terrace at half-time to ask Nicole to marry him. And she said yes!

Caught on the big screen for the whole crowd to see, the engagement topped a day of activities for supporters around the stadium.

The annual Armed Forces and Uniformed Services day welcomed groups to Welford Road to find out more about the great work members of the services and emergency services do.

There were activities for all to get involved in, including a police car, army medical tent and stands from the 154 Regiment Royal Logistics Corps, The Royal Yeomanry and 222 Medical Squadron.

Young supporters had fun with Ford’s Kicking Challenge and in the Junior Tigers Club area where players Will Evans and Charlie Thacker joined in games, posed for photos and signed autographs.

There are just three home games remaining in the season and Tigers are planning special themed days for the #TigersFamily to enjoy.

For Tigers against Wasps on Sunday, March 25 (3.00pm), supporters can get into the mood for Easter with treats and activities for Junior Tigers Club members plus live entertainment for all the family around the stadium.

The local derby match aqainst Northampton Saints on Saturday, April 14 (3.00pm) hosts the club’s annual Junior Tigers Takeover Day when young fans take on roles around the stadium including matchday announcer, kit assistant, mascot, photographer and reporter.

Then the club host Newcastle Falcons in the final home game of the season on Friday, April 27 (7:45pm) when we celebrate 125 years of rugby at Welford Road. Fans will be encouraged to wear their old Tigers jerseys and there are plans to commemorate the club’s heritage items, souvenirs and projects.

Match tickets can be booked in person, by phoning 0116 219 8888 (option 2) or online
