Leicester Tigers wing Jonny May is on a three-man shortlist for the England Men’s Player of the Year award for 2019.

The award is voted for by members of the England Elite Playing Squad and the winner will be announced at the awards event at Twickenham Stadium on Wednesday, May 8.

May is shortlisted alongside back-row duo Tom Curry (Sale Sharks) and Mark Wilson (Newcastle Falcons) after an international season which included six tries in the Six Nations and a nomination for the Player of the Championship.

“To be nominated by my England team-mates is a huge honour and one I am extremely grateful for,” May said. “There’s no better feeling than to have the recognition and support of my peers, and I am excited about the opportunity that lies ahead for our squad later this year.”

Tigers Academy graduate Tom Bowen, who has been involved in the England Sevens programme since 2014, is among the nominations for England Sevens Player of the Year.
