Leicester Tigers have helped almost 100 participants to gain awards under the Tigers Education banner in the academic year 2015/16.

More than 70 young people have qualified for Aim Awards (Level 1 in Strength & Conditioning, Health & Nutrition and Taking Part in Sport, and Level 2 in Skeleton & Muscles).

Another 18 have received the Sports Leader Level 2 certificate run via the award-winning HITZ programme, which uses the facilities at the Tigers and around the city, including the Lifestyle Fitness gym.

Tigers’ Inclusion Manager Sam Swift said: “We have enjoyed another successful year with the Tigers Education project growing again and we’re looking forward to developing further next year. This is an important part of the work of the Tigers Foundation.

“All of these awards help to provide a footing in industry and boost employability. The Sports Leader certificate, for example, focuses on the principles of teamwork and leadership which are transferable skills in many areas.”

With an age group intake from 14 to 24 years, Tigers Education has supported entrants via the Prince’s Trust, HITZ and other routes as they look to continue their education and boost employability skills for the future.
