Tigers had to survive a late fightback from their hosts before posting a 31-28 victory which lifted them into fifth place in the Guinness Premiership table, level on points with fourth-placed Harlequins and just three behind second-placed Sale Sharks.
“It was possibly the most positive dressing room I have ever been in at half-time,” said Murphy, the Tigers’ top try-scorer in all competitions this season and last season’s Supporters Player of the Year.
“Before the game we said it was about enjoyment and going out and expressing ourselves, and that is what we did.
“We scored some good tries, we created some good opportunities and then we always had that ‘Leicester Tigers heart’ at the end.”
The pick of the Tigers tries was a second-half effort from Matt Smith, his second of the afternoon, which started on the opposite side of the pitch and inside the Tigers’ own half.
“Just about every member of the backline touched the ball in the move and that was a really good try,” said Murphy.
“That is what we want to do and we want to keep doing it.
“There were a few other opportunities, we probably left two or three chances out there that maybe we could have taken and got the bonus point.
“But Irish showed they are a good team, they came back well near the end and we’ll take what we got.”
