Nadolo back with a bang for FIji

Nemani Nadolo returned to international rugby with a history-making hat-trick as Fiji beat Georgia 38-24 in the Autumn Nations Cup at Murrayfield.

Fiji had been unable to play their three group-stage fixtures due to a Covid outbreak in the camp, before finally being able to run out for the last game of the autumn series in the rain of Edinburgh.

Leicester Tigers wing Nadolo – playing with club colleague Kini Murimurivalu at full-back – moved level with predecessor Vereniki Goneva as Fiji’s top tryscorer of all time with his treble after opening his account barely 90 seconds into the game.

In his first game of 2020/21, Nadolo picked up loose ball on the slippery surface to beat two attempted tacklers in the left-hand corner and provide the perfect start.

Johnny Dyer and Josua Tuisova also scored tries in the first half as Fiji led 19-10 and Mesulame Kunavula added another before Nadolo completed his hat-trick with a quickfire double.

First, he dived on to a grubber kick in behind the Georgia defence to slide in at the corner and moments later he capitalised on set-piece ball to break the defensive line and make it a treble.

It took his Fiji total to 22 tries in 30 Test appearances to draw level with former Tigers wing Goneva.

Tigers colleague Shalva Mamukashvili started in the middle of the Georgia front row in his 78th Test appearances for The Lelos.

Ben Youngs, George Ford and Ellis Genge start for England in the Autumn Nations Cup Final against France on Sunday.
