With the announcement of the Heineken Champions Cup pools this week, another piece of the season’s format for 2021/22 has fallen into place.
Leicester Tigers now know they will face Connacht Rugby and Bordeaux-Bègles on a home-and-away basis in the pool stages of the Heineken Champions Cup, with rounds played during November and December.
Exact fixture details are to be confirmed later this summer by tournament organisers EPCR after consultation with the clubs and broadcast partners across Europe.
Supporters already know that the domestic season in the Gallagher Premiership season will begin with a home game against Exeter Chiefs on Saturday, September 18.
Premiership Rugby revealed the order of fixtures for the 2021/22 season this month, including dates and times for the opening seven rounds up to the end of October.
As well as the Chiefs, Tigers also have home games against Saracens and Sale Sharks in the opening phase of the campaign and trips to Gloucester, London Irish, Worcester Warriors and Northampton Saints.
There are eight rounds of Premiership action before the opening of the Premiership Rugby Cup in November. Details of that competition will be announced later this summer.
With 13 clubs in the Gallagher Premiership this season, Tigers have a blank week at the end of November then one more round of league rugby – at home to Harlequins – before going into the Champions Cup in the run-up to Christmas.
Admission to all home games in the regular league season, plus the pool stages of Europe, opening rounds of the Premiership Cup and the pre-season game against the Scarlets, is included in Tigers season tickets.
