Old Eds want to go again in The Big Boot

A group from Five Ways Old Edwardians RFC experienced the “special” feeling of testing their rugby skills at Welford Road at half-time on Sunday.

They made four catches to win their head-to-head in The Ultimate Big Boot against a group of workmates from DB Schenker (three).

The Ultimate Big Boot, sponsored by De Montfort University, tests the catching ability of participants on the pitch as part of the half-time entertainment at the home of the Tigers.

Liam Williams, from Old Edwardians, said: “We found out we were doing this about two or three weeks ago. It feels quite special to say that I caught a high ball on Welford Road pitch.

“I would like to say thanks for having us and that if there’s an opportunity to do it again, we’d gladly come back!”

Tigers season ticket holder Mark Shilton booked the DB Schenker team’s place and said: “It was my idea to bring a group of the guys along. One of them is a Leicester City fan and I thought it would be good to get him here – and he made one of the catches. He’ll be a Tigers fan now!”

This season’s best mark in The Ultimate Big Boot still belongs to the Tigers Group Sales team who made seven catches during the European match against the Scarlets in October.

The Ultimate Big Boot is available for group bookings and all teams receive Big Boot T-shirts as a souvenir. All participants must be aged 14 or over. For more information, contact the Tigers group sales team by phoning 0116 2171 216.
