One game at a time for Geordan

Tigers full-back Geordan Murphy may be on the brink of his third European Cup Final but the 29-year-old insists that he and his Leicester team-mates have their sights set no further than Saturday's Guinness Premiership clash with London Wasps at Welford Road.

Tigers face the same opponents in the Heineken Cup Final at Twickenham on May 20 but this weekend's fixture could decide the fate of both sides when it comes to this year's domestic competition.

Pat Howard's men go into the fixture in second place in the Guinness Premiership table, with Wasps just outside the top four following Leicester's loss to Bristol on Tuesday evening. A place is the play-offs is not guaranteed as a bonus-point win for the away side, coupled with victories for Bristol and Saracens, could signal the end of Leicester's title hopes for 2006/07.

"It's very boring really but we always said that we'll try to take one game at a time," says Murphy. "Thankfully, we've got the EDF Energy Cup in the locker and we've got an opportunity to win a European trophy as well, but we've still got a lot of work to do in the Premiership. Everything that's happened up to this point has been fantastic but it's not over yet and it's important that we get as much silverware as we can."

With Saturday's game, a possible Guinness Premiership play-off, the Guinness A League Final second leg and the Heineken Cup Final, the two clubs could meet on a remarkable four further occasions before the season draws to a close.

"Potentially we might have to play them four times before the season's out, what with the first and second teams," says Murphy. "Wasps are a good side and they'll give us a tough challenge in every game we play them.

"In a knockout competition like the Heienken Cup, anything can happen, but the form book said Wasps were going to win their semi. Northampton put up a tremendous fight in the first half but they just couldn't sustain it and I fully expected Wasps to win. We're not even thinking about the Heineken Cup Final yet though. Everything's geared towards Saturday when we really need to get a victory."
