Leicester Tigers’ bonus-point victory over Sale Sharks was built on strong performances across the team, official Aviva Premiership statistics show.

Valentino Mapapalangi, for example, made 20 carries in the game, more than any other player in Round 8 of the Aviva Premiership, including the run that led to Nick Malouf’s bonus-point score.

The Opta Rugby Rankings also show that Mapapalangi made a total of 107 metres and beat five defenders, more than any other Tigers player in the game.

Graham Kitchener won seven lineouts against Sale, another league high for the round, taking his total for the season to 22, the highest in the Tigers squad.

Kitchener was also the joint top tackler in the Tigers team against Sale. The second rower made 18 tackles, the same number as Will Evans and Mike Fitzgerald, with captain Tom Youngs just behind on 17 tackles.

Ellis Genge, scorer of Tigers’ second try against Sale, made four offloads, another high for the round.

Harry Thacker, meanwhile, won two turnovers after coming off the bench in the second half, with only Marty Moore (Wasps) making more turnovers with three in the whole round.
