Ben Pienaar hopes the success of the Leicester Tigers Development XV will give the first team a boost in the run-in to the Guinness Premiership season.
Pienaar captained Tigers to the Premier Rugby A League title after they beat Harlequins A 29-27 in Monday night’s final in front of more than 8,000 people at Welford Road.
He described the win as fantastic and hopes it can rub off on the senior side, who face Saracens at Welford Road on Saturday before a home semi-final the following weekend.
“This will hopefully give the first team a boost and we can add another piece of silverware before the end of the season,” said Pienaar.
“We have worked hard all season and are delighted to win the ‘A’ League.
“It was a fantastic atmosphere. The crowd was like a 16th man. We gave it our all and managed to win.”
