Work started today to prepare the Welford Road pitch for the start of the 2016/17 campaign.
With the help of Cosby-based Hewitt Sportsturf, Tigers head groundsman Steve Packwood and his team have begun readying the playing surface for next season, which begins with the double-header against Nottingham Rugby and the Ospreys on the August Bank Holiday weekend.
Kick-off against Championship side Nottingham is at 5pm, with the Ospreys to follow at 7.45pm on Friday, August 26, the final weekend before Tigers kick-off their Aviva Premiership programme.
The playing surface was being scarified before the addition of top dressing. The pitch will then be reseeded.
Particular attention will be paid to the in-goal area in front of the West Stand, which took a pounding from heavy vehicles and building equipment during the work to complete the £8 million addition to the stadium.
