Player sponsors described Leicester Tigers as "the place to be" when they enjoyed a guided tour of the training ground at Oval Park and met the club's stars.
Companies and individuals who have sponsored Tigers players for the coming season received an access-all-areas guide to the training ground by former players Dusty Hare and Mike Harrison, including the state-of-the-art gym and medical facilities.
They then enjoyed tea and coffee, and shared stories with the players at the end of a gruelling training session.
Greg Hallett is financial director at Envisage, a design and engineering company who are members of the Tigers 1880 Club and are sponsoring back-rower Craig Newby for a second season.
Greg, who took his son Jordan to the get-together this week, said: “We are all rugby fans and Tigers is the place to be.
“Craig Newby is a very good lad, it is great to sponsor him. We are looking to get him to come out to our company and give him a tour.”
England international centre Anthony Allen, who joined Tigers during the summer, has been sponsored by Watson Fuels, the first time the company has backed a Leicester player.
Watson Fuels business manager Mark York said: “Anthony is a good choice for us, he has huge potential and is playing for a forward-thinking club.
“We are a national business and we are looking at more exposure, and this is perfect for us.”
ACE Leicester, who offer specialist services for structural steel working, are sponsoring hooker Mefin Davies after their long association with Seru Rabeni ended last season.
Managing director Dave Crumbie said: “We would recommend player sponsorship to others. What attracts me to player sponsorship is that it makes you feel a large part of the Tigers.
“I love the hospitality and seeing friends down here. You end up being friends not only with your player, but the other players get to know you and recognise you.”
With a limited number of players available from £2,000 + VAT, there is still an opportunity to form a partnership with the defending Guinness Premiership champions in time for the new season.
