Players and fans welcome Youngs as captain

Leicester Tigers players and supporters have given their thumbs up to the appointment of Tom Youngs as club captain.

Tigers, England and British & Irish Lions hooker Youngs has been confirmed as captain ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.

There has been a huge reaction to the news on the Tigers Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages with the appointment welcomed
 
Ben Youngs took to Twitter to give his reaction to his brother’s appointment, saying: “Really pleased and proud to see my brother @TomYoungs87 being chosen for Leicester Tigers club captain. He will do a quality job”
 
Ed Slater, who has been club captain for the last two seasons, said: “Well done to @TomYoungs87 on Club Captaincy. Great privilege and great bloke for the job. #Tigers”
 
Supporters have also been giving their response on the club’s social media channels.
 
jo_tigress_24 posted on Instagram “he'll be a great leader” and frxnc1s_x added “well done he deserved it more than anyone”.
 
The appointment has attracted scores of responses on the club’s Facebook page, including Dean Tomlinson who wrote: “The right man for the job. 100% need that nasty pack mentality back and Tom will lead by setting the tone in the way he plays the game.”
 
On Twitter, @mabush1986 posted “A great choice Tom would run through a brick wall for the shirt and that’s what the fans want”, @gsammons2 said “@TomYoungs87 congratulations on the appointment of club captain mate great news, well deserved epitomises what Leicester Tigers are about” and @TFinnKelcey added “@TomYoungs87 thoroughly deserved. Can't think of anyone id rather have leading the line. #Tigersfamily through and through”.
 
Former Tigers and England fly-half @samuelvesty tweeted: “Really happy to see @TomYoungs87 has been named as club captain at Leicester Tigers if any youngster ever needed a role model”.
