Plenty still to enjoy at Welford Road

Tigers' season might be over but there are still plenty of events to come at Welford Road this week including sevens rugby, boxing and American football.

The home of Leicester Tigers will host the first ever National Corporate Sevens on Friday.

Sixteen teams will be taking part and there will be plenty of other entertainment including live music from local band Stonepark, a giant rugby ball rodeo, gladiator games, a hog roast and the Final Whistle bar in the Caterpillar Stand will be open until late. Bars open from 11am.

The event is supporting the Matt Hampson Trust, Help for Heroes and The Army Benevolent Fund. Tickets are available for £5 adults and under-16’s go free. Tickets are available from Tigers on 0116 2171 294 and will also be available on the day from the Welford Road ticket office.

Welford Road will host the Loros 25th Anniversary American Football Bowl on Saturday (kick-off 2.30pm).

Leicester Falcons play Birmingham Bulls and entertainment includes live music, cheerleaders and guests from Tigers and Leicester City.

Tickets are £7.50 adults and £3.50 under-16s and are available from Loros shops or on 0116 231 8431.

On Saturday evening, Welford Road will host a night of professional boxing.

Leicester fighters Kevin Concepcion and Ryan Hookway are among the names on the bill.

The three-fight dinner, which is a black-tie event, will be held in the Caterpillar Stand and doors open at 6.45pm.

The night includes a three-course meal, live music, a comedian, a sports memorabilia auction and bingo.

And 500 runners are expected to take part in the Leicestershire Women in Business Marathon at Welford Road on Sunday in aid of Loros. The event is a series of 5km runs around the pitch with the first setting off at 10am.
