We’ve waited for this. Friday night lights on our home patch. A cup final rematch. Let’s just say…it’s great to be back at Mattioli Woods Welford Road for a Gallagher Premiership clash.

Gloucester arrive into Tiger town glowing from their outstanding performance against Dan McKellar’s side last week, the Cherries needing to start a winning run in the league to have any chance of making the playoffs.

Tigers sit three-points adrift of the top-four having won seven of their last eight league fixtures.

Gloucester will have Santi Carreras and Stephen Varney in their ranks with Ruan Ackerman captaining the side from the backrow.

Tigers welcome back their Guinness Six Nations representatives as well as scrumhalf Jack van Poortvliet. Dan Cole and Ben Youngs both earn their 247th start for the club.


• Leicester Tigers’ only defeat in their last seven Gallagher Premiership Rugby matches was 10 - 29 at Exeter on 23 December. Leicester have not been defeated at home in Premiership Rugby since Harlequins were the visitors in Round 5.

• Leicester have won their last seven Premiership Rugby matches against Gloucester since the Cherry & Whites 46-30 victory at Kingsholm in August 2020 whilst Gloucester have not won at Mattioli Woods Welford Road in their last seventeen visits since October 2007.

• The two sides met last Friday at Kingsholm in the final of the Premiership Rugby Cup where Gloucester took the trophy 23-13.

• Overall the two clubs have met on 234 previous occasions with Leicester winning 116 to 110 by Gloucester and 8 games drawn. One hundred and fifteen of those clashes have been at Welford Road, where the Tigers record is won 81, drawn 4, lost 30.
