Leicester Tigers travel to Wales on the opening weekend of the 2022/23 Heineken Champions Cup to play Ospreys Rugby on Sunday afternoon.

The sides have met on twelve previous occasions, with Tigers having won six of the meetings and Ospreys four, while they’ve played out two draws.

Steve Borthwick has made eight changes to the starting side which travelled to Bristol last weekend and named six players in line for their first European appearances in a Leicester shirt.

Charlie Atkinson, Olly Cracknell and Anthony Watson are named to start with Sean Jansen, Jimmy Gopperth and Gabriel Oghre included among the replacements.

Oghre, if used from the bench, will make his Leicester Tigers debut.

Speaking ahead of the Sunday evening fixture, Borthwick said: “They’re a side who have a great deal of talent throughout their squad, including a host of current Wales internationals.”

“Their scrum is the best in the United Rugby Championship, back-row of Test quality and backline boasts a wealth of speed and attacking ability.

“We are looking forward to what we know will be a big challenge and opportunity to go up against a side of Ospreys calibre.”

Leicester have won just once in their most recent eight visits to Wales in the Champions Cup and, at Swansea.com Stadium, recorded one victory in four matches.
