Leicester Tigers play Edinburgh Rugby in the 2022/23 Heineken Champions Cup Round of 16 at Mattioli Woods Welford Road.

The clubs have met just twice in the competition's history - during the 2007/08 European season - with Tigers winning (39-0) the only fixture played at Mattioli Woods Welford Road.

Both teams won three of their four pool stage matches to qualify for the knockout stages, with Leicester losing their final game at home to Ospreys and Edinburgh only being defeated away to Saracens in Round 3.

Richard Wigglesworth's team have won five successive Gallagher Premiership games before the league took a break for the return of European rugby, while Edinburgh has won just one of their past five games in this season's United Rugby Championship in recent weeks.

The Scottish club contributed ten players to this season's national squad for the Guinness Six Nations, who finished third, and had six representatives in the matchday squad which defeated England in the 2023 tournament opener.

Tigers have qualified for the European Round of 16 in back-to-back seasons after defeating ASM Clermont Auvergne in the 2021/22 campaign before taking on Leinster Rugby in the quarter-finals.
