Preview | Tigers to face new opponent

Leicester Tigers - officially - begin the 23/24 campaign at home, in the Premiership Rugby Cup, against Caldy RFC on Saturday afternoon.

It will be a first-ever meeting between Leicester and Caldy, the first time since the 1998/99 campaign that Tigers have played a new English opponent, as well as a first look at the new Cup competition for supporters up and down the country.

The visitors, who play in the Championship, have enjoyed success in recent seasons with a National League 1 title in the 21/22 season and National League 2 North title in 19/20.

Despite some of the new faces to now call Leicester home featuring within the 30 to record a pre-season win over Nottingham Rugby last Friday night, this weekend's outing at Mattioli Woods Welford Road will be the debut cap for half a dozen Tigers players.
