Top spot in Pool B  of the Premiership Rugby Cup is up for grabs this Saturday when Leicester Tigers take on Newcastle Falcons at Mattioli Woods Welford Road

With a healthy crowd expected for Tigers last home game in the Cup before the Premiership campaign gets underway, Dan McKellar’s side welcome an in-form Falcons outfit for the Round 4 clash with both teams sitting on 14 competition points.

Tigers, despite fielding an inexperienced side against Ampthill, were comfortable in victory against their Championship opponents with some of the club’s best and brightest young stars showcasing their talent in the 64-14 win.

Newcastle will arrive in Leicester full of confidence off the back of their eye-catching display against Sale last time out, the Falcons winning 23-10 on their home patch.

KEY FACTS

Leicester Tigers have started the season with three straight wins, whilst their only defeat in their last seven home games in all competitions was 17-20 to Harlequins in the Premiership in their final fixture of the 2022/23 campaign.

The Tigers have won their last four Premiership Rugby Cup fixtures since their single-point defeat (31-32) to today's opponents Newcastle at Mattioli Woods Welford Road last October.

The Falcons have won their last two fixtures against the Tigers and have never won three in a row against the East Midlanders.

The two clubs have met on eight previous occasions in various domestic cups with Leicester having the edge by six wins to two.

TEAM NEWS

McKellar has made wholesale changes to his Tigers team for the Falcons game, with a fully changed starting group featuring first appearances this season for second row Harry Wells and backrower Olly Cracknell
