Market Harborough and Nottingham are through to the semi-finals of the Prima Tiger Cup.

They join Silhillians and Wolverhampton in the last four after their quarter-final victories at Welford Road on Saturday.

Harborough beat 2005 Prima Tiger Cup winners Diss 1-0 thanks to a try from James Melody while Nottingham, who won the competition in 2008, booked their passage with a 2-1 win over Norfolk side Wymondham.

The games were played before Leicester Tigers’ Heineken Cup win over Viadana in the Heineken Cup.

Scott Clarke, Tigers community manager, said: “The games were a great advert for junior rugby and for the Prima Tiger Cup. The players, coaches and supporters should be congratulated for their part in the day and they took part in the right spirit.”

The Prima Tiger Cup is supported by Loughborough-based Prima Solutions and is open to under-10s teams from across the country with more than 50 clubs entering this season. The semi-finals will be held on Saturday, February 20 before Tigers take on Gloucester Rugby in the Guinness Premiership at Welford Road.
