Pat Howard returns to his 'second home' this week with a great sense of pride that his native Australia have a fixture against former club Leicester Tigers.

“I’m really looking forward to coming back to Welford Road,” said Howard, a European champion with Tigers in 2001 and the inspirational coach of a team that won a league and cup double in 2007 as well as reaching the Heineken Cup Final.

“Leicester is a second home to me and I’m very proud of my connections with the club.”

Howard is making his first return to Welford Road since heading back to Australia in the summer of 2007, and will join supporters for ‘An Audience with Pat Howard’ on Monday evening before taking his place in the crowd for Tuesday’s historic match against the Wallabies.

“It’s a great occasion for the Leicester players to play international rugby on their home ground,” he said.

“And the Australia players will find out pretty quickly that it is going to be a battle. I’m sure the Tigers boys will make it difficult for them.”

Read more of Pat’s views in Tuesday's souvenir match programme, available around the stadium, price £3, or join us for An Audience with Pat Howard on Monday. Contact the Tigers ticket office for details.
