Pumas will be in fine voice at Twickenham

Josefina Achaval, partner of Leicester Tigers wing Gonzalo Camacho, will line up with the teams at Twickenham on Saturday when England face Argentina.

Tigers hope to have representation in both teams, with Dan Cole, Toby Flood, Geoff Parling, and Ben and Tom Youngs in the England squad for the autumn series, and Marcos Ayerza and Pablo Matera in the Argentina squad.

Camacho is unfortunately sidelined with a shoulder injury suffered during Argentina’s Rugby Championship match against South Africa in the summer but will be at Twickenham as a member of the Sky Sports panel for the game.

This time it is Josefina who will take centre stage as she leads the singing of the Argentina national anthem when the teams line up ahead of kick-off.

“It is a fantastic honour to be asked to sing the anthem for the Argentina team at Twickenham,” she says.

“There will be a lot of Pumas supporters there to sing too and it is a huge occasion for me as well as for the players and the supporters.”

As well as having a degree in business management, Josefina has a successful career as a professional singer in South America, including performances at the ATP Tennis Finals and as a main contestant in the reality television show ‘Operacion Triunfo’, the Argentine equivalent of the X-Factor. Since moving to England she has also performed during an international polo event at the O2 Arena and at the Argentine Residence.

On Saturday, as well as singing the Argentina anthem for the Pumas at Twickenham, she will also lead the singing of the French anthem in the women’s international between France and England at the same venue.
