Quarter-final preview: Tigers v Stade Francais

"These are the games you want to be involved in. This is what it is all about". This is a European Champions Cup quarter-final on home ground this Sunday.

Leicester Tigers host French champions Stade Francais Paris in the first quarter-final fixture on Welford Road turf since 2007 and a tense and exciting day is in store with the added incentive of a semi-final against Racing 92 or RC Toulon and the hope of a run to the Champions Cup Final in Lyon next month.
“Stade are French champions which means they know how to play big one-off games, as they showed in the run to win that title last season,” said Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill.
“They’re a physical team, any team that can win the French league has a physical edge, but they have a very powerful backline and have some stardust in that team.
“No one will underestimate them. We know we have to be at our best. We are trying to grow our game and we’re doing some good things.
“We’re looking forward to it. These are the games everyone wants to be involved in. We want to be hosting big games in Europe, that is what it is all about.”
Tigers and Stade have met on 10 previous occasions in the European Cup with five wins each.
The sides have already met twice this season, each winning its home game in the pool stages and both sides producing some exhilarating rugby in sharing 15 tries over the two matches. Click here to re-live the drama of a Tigers victory in the opening match of this season’s tournament.
