Round 10 Reaction: Hanro Liebenberg

Hanro Liebenberg admitted it was a “tough one” following the last-gasp defeat to Bath on Friday evening.

Speaking at full-time, after being defeated 19-18 at The Recreation Ground, the Leicester Tigers captain said: “That’s a tough one, really tough one to take.”

“We looked good in attack, some of the best we’ve looked in a while, and defended well as a unit.

“But, the difference was obvious, you can’t not take your opportunities and unfortunately we didn’t at key times tonight.”

While “disappointed” following defeat, the back-rower was adamant that everything was “fixable” and found the positives from the side’s first league appearance in almost a month.

“We’re disappointed, of course we are,” said Liebenberg.

“But, everything is fixable. We need to find that cohesion we’re working towards, it’s not easy but we’re seeing good things too.

“They are top of the log in scoring from mauls this season and I thought we did a good job on that today.

“We created chances, we are making the opportunities and we just need to take them.”

Looking ahead, Liebenberg said the solution was simple - get back to work.

“It’s a long season and we’ve had an up and down start to it, in performances and challenges with different squads nearly every week,” he said.

“Look, we know what we’re capable of and know we will work hard to keep improving.

“Yes, there’s challenges and it hasn’t been all great but there’s no excuses and only one way out of it; we just work hard, together, and we’ll do that.”
