Leicester Tigers head coach, Dan McKellar has reacted to Tigers defeat to Sale Sharks in round 17 of the Gallagher Premiership.

“The game probably summed up our season really,” McKellar admitted.

“We’ll review the season thoroughly, and the team will be better for it.

“I’ll be a better coach for it as well. First year was always going to be tough but I know the league now, the club, the people and trust me, there’ll be a thorough review of our program.”

A frustrating night for Tigers saw the home side control the game, Tigers now looking forward to their final game of the season, against Exeter at Mattioli Woods Welford Road.

“It’s not a night for positives, but what I can’t fault is the players’ commitment to the club,” McKellar said.

“Tonight we had too many turnovers in key areas and gave away too many unnecessary penalties but the players fought hard, and I know they’re hurting in there because they care deeply about the club.

“Next week matters a lot to this group. Players that mean a lot to us and our supporters will say goodbye to the club, we’ve got another big crowd coming to Mattioli Woods Welford Road. That matters.

“So we won’t be dragging our lips around. We’ll be in on Monday ready to work and prepare for Exeter to finish this season on a positive.”
