Dan McKellar conceded errors in key moments cost his side against Sale in Saturday’s round two defeat to Sale at Mattioli Woods Welford Road, but was adamant his side had provided the response needed after a disappointing performance in round one.
The result may have eluded McKellar’s side in front of a healthy home crowd, but the head coach praised Tigers physicality and effort against last year’s finalists.
Dan McKellar said: “I asked for a response, and we certainly got that physically and in and around our effort areas.”
“I just thought it there were periods where we didn't defend up to our standard and they capitalized and took advantage of it.=
“Conceding three tries the way we did will always put you under pressure, but we’ll review that honestly and thoroughly and go at it again on Monday.
“We’re disappointed again with the result, particularly in front of our home support but they’re a good side Sale and credit to them for how they took their opportunities.”
