Ollie Chessum believes "composure" was key from he and his Leicester Tigers team mates to help come from behind at half time to register the bonus-point win over Sale Sharks at Mattioli Woods Welford Road.
Speaking after the game, Chessum shared was discussed during the break: "We've had some tellings off over the year, but today everyone was so composed. 'Cheik' was really calm, and he complimented the group and said it's ten points ... we can get that back in a heartbeat."
"Everyone in the group bought into the same thing; we had to step up the physicality and had to go after the breakdown. That result, that's what happens when you have every player buying in, you go out there and get the job done."
The man known as Big Red, who just over 24 hours before the game was named in the British Lions squad to tour Australia, was asked about the power of the Tigers pack, which helped to secure the win with two late tries, both scored by replacement back-rower Emeka Ilione.
"Going back years, the maul is something we have always prided our selves on," said Chessum.
"We felt like it probably hadn't really clicked for us at the start of the year, but it's credit to the coaches and also all the boys you don't always see on the pitch on the weekend, who push one another and help test ourselves each week. It has paid dividends.
"It's only one game and we have been really big on doing just that, looking at the next game as the only game that matters. This week it was Sale Sharks and now we turn to Bath away."
On the Sharks and the physicality of the Sale side, Chessum added: "We felt it (Sale's physicality) really early on but we knew coming into the game that it would be the case. They are a brutal side and we had to match it tonight."
"We are two clubs that pride ourselves on physicality and we had to front up, which I believe we did partly in the first half but we properly stepped it up in the second."
When asked about his selection for the Lions tour of Australia, Chessum admitted it had been on his mind in the days and weeks following the Six Nations, despite pretending it wasn't the case.
"It's been looming for a long time ... you try and sort of pretend it's not there, but that's pretty hard. It was a special day to share with my family," he said.
"Tonight has made it that extra bit sweeter. I'm not just saying it but, as good as yesterday was, I've got a job to do here for the next few weeks to make sure we're in a playoff spot. The Run In is on and that's what I'm focusing on now, which continues with Bath next week."
Looking ahead to the next opponents for he and his fellow Tigers, the league leaders at their home ground, Chessum didn't pull any punches.
"We're here to win every game, every game we play, that's what we are aiming to do" Chessum said.
"Bath did a job on us here at the start of the season and so we want to square that up. They've been a force all season, the best side in the competition, but we're going to give it everything we can."
