Leicester Tigers' first fixture at the new-look Welford Road on Saturday is a 24,000 sell-out.
The defending Guinness Premiership champions host their first home game of the season, against Newcastle Falcons, when the new Caterpillar Stand is opened for the first time.
Ticket sales soared past the stadium’s previous 17,498 capacity during August, topped the 20,000 mark during August, with the final tickets snapped up on Wednesday.
The 24,000 crowd will set a league attendance record at Welford Road.
“The supporters have been absolutely magnificent,” said Leicester Tigers chairman Peter Tom CBE.
“The vast majority of tickets were snapped up even before the seats had been added to the new stand and that speaks volumes for the level of support for this club.
“Now the supporters have been able to see the completed project, we have had some excellent feedback and the players are also excited about running out in front of a 24,000-strong crowd.
“We gave the contractors Galliford Try a tough assignment as the whole stand has been built during a 54-week period, but they have created a landmark development.
“Already more than 60 per cent of the seats in the new stand are sold out for the entire season in terms of season ticket holders and corporate guests.
“The stand looks great and Saturday should be an excellent occasion. We are delighted that so many supporters are able to share in it.”
Tickets are no on sale for all remaining home games, starting against Worcester Warriors on October 3 and the opening Heineken Cup clash of the season, against the Ospreys on Sunday October 11.
A fixture against world champions South Africa is being staged to mark the official opening of the new Caterpillar Stand on Friday, November 6. Tickets are on sale now.
