Robinson relies on Scottish internationals

Edinburgh head coach Andy Robinson has recalled Scotland full-back Hugo Southwell to his starting XV for Saturday’s Heineken Cup clash with Leicester Tigers at Murrayfield (3.30pm kick-off).

Southwell picked up an ankle injury in the first meeting between the clubs at Welford Road in November.

He said: “The past month or so has been really hard for me because of my ankle, so to get back to full fitness and to be starting again is really pleasing.”

Southwell's return means that Ben Cairns moves back across to the right wing. Andy Turnbull steps down.

Prop Gavin Kerr returns after missing the Magners League win over Cardiff Blues with a virus but Dave Callam is ruled out with a shoulder injury. His place goes to Roland Reid who makes his first start since the trip to Leinster early in December. Flanker Alan MacDonald is named on the bench after four months out with a knee injury.

Utility back Calum MacRae is on the bench after being absent since the home win over Leinster just before Christmas.

There are nine Scotland internationals included in the starting XV, including scrum-half Mike Blair and wing Simon Webster, and 13 of the squad have been included in the national squad ahead of this season’s RBS Six Nations.
