Robinson to lead Sharks against Tigers

Figure image
Jason Robinson will lead out Sale Sharks in his penultimate home appearance for the club against Leicester Tigers on Friday evening.

After announcing that he will retire from club rugby at the end of this season, Sharks are expecting a bumper crowd to salute the former England captain in his remaining home matches, against Tigers and then Bath Rugby on April 13.

Director of rugby Philippe St Andre said: "This is a big game for us. With the news that Jason will be retiring from club rugby, the players are determined that we will win the next two games at home to give him the send-off he deserves."

The Sharks team shows three changes in personnel from the side beaten by Tigers in the EDF Energy Cup semi-final just two weeks ago.

The back five remains intact, but Lee Thomas comes in at fly-half in place of Daniel Larrechea. The pack features 21-stone Eifion Roberts at loosehead prop following an injury to Andrew Sheridan in that cup encounter, and Ignacio Fernandez Lobbe starts in the second row, with Chris Jones moving to the blindside flank in place of Juan Martin Fernandez Lobbe.

The Champions Village, located behind the Printerland.co.uk Stand at Edgeley Park, Stockport, will be open from 4pm for supporters with food and bar available.
