Rowntree, now England scrummage coach, will take a break from his preparations for the Rugby World Cup by riding the distance on Wednesday (June 1) and you can make a £3 donation by texting RIDE to 70303. “A good friend of mine, Adam Tansey, is fighting to keep the children’s cardiac surgery centre at Glenfield open as the system is currently under review,” says Graham.
“To demonstrate how big the area is that is covered by the hospital he has decided to cycle from the north to the south of the area. And I decided to join him on his ride.”
Keepthebeat is a new charity inspired by Adam’s son Albert and there to help families affected by congenital heart defects.
Adam and Graham are riding from Sheffield Children’s Hospital, calling at Derbyshire Children’s Hospital, Nottingham Children’s Hospital, East Midlands Congenital Heart Centre at Glenfield, Kettering General Hospital and finishing at Northampton General Hospital.
