RugbyExplained helping youngsters learn the game

RugbyExplained.com, the new online resource for new fans, youngsters and players, is proving a key part of Leicester Tigers community programmes.

The end of April saw Tigers and club partner The Nottingham Building Society host a Tag Rugby festival for primary school pupils across Leicester at Vipers rugby club in Whetstone.

Pupils from six primary schools took part in the round-robin tournament which for many was their first ever experience of competitive rugby.

Tigers rugby development officer, Pete Talbot who organises the events, explained how RugbyExplained.com is helping introduce young fans to the sport.

Pete said: “Tag rugby is a great game to get young and new players involved in the game of rugby, taking away the contact elements and focusing on developing the key skills. Tools like RugbyExplained help to visualise the game and the videos are a quick way of sharing information that will help players to develop.

“By visiting the website, or using the Tigers app, I can show groups a series of videos or get them involved with the interactive quiz. Simple, quick and you can access them anywhere from the classroom to out on the pitch.”

Covering everything from player positions to the basic laws, discover RugbyExplained.com for yourself.
