Sale Sharks clash already a sell-out

Leicester Tigers will celebrate Christmas with a capacity 24,000 crowd for the Guinness Premiership match against Sale Sharks on Sunday, December 27 (2pm).

The final tickets for the Round 11 match have been snapped up this week.

“Traditionally, Tigers have hosted big crowds around the Christmas fixtures, going right back to the Barbarians game,” said managing director David Clayton.

“It is great to see that tradition living on in the professional era and we are looking forward to a cracking Christmas occasion at Welford Road.

“This is our third sell-out of the extended stadium already this season and, with some massive matches to come against the likes of Wasps, Saracens, London Irish and Gloucester in the second half of the season, we are looking forward to many more big attendances in the next few months.”

Supporters who have missed out on the Sale game will still be able to see a Tigers Christmas game, with tickets still available for this Saturday’s crucial Heineken Cup encounter with French visitors Clermont Auvergne.

Kick-off is at 6pm and, as the final home game before Christmas, a party atmosphere is promised, with mulled wine and mince pies, a Christmas choir and a visit from Santa Claus.

The New Year at Welford Road kicks off with the hugely anticipated game against old rivals London Wasps on Saturday, January 9.

Tickets are on sale now. Supporters are urged to book early to guarantee the best available seats. Special rates apply for group bookings.

“The Wasps game has already proved popular with supporters and it will be great to see out the old year with a capacity crowd against Sale, then another big gate for the visit of Wasps,” added Clayton.

“The Wasps game also signals the start of the 8 Pack half season ticket and, with so many big-name teams to come in the second half of the season, they have been selling well.

“More than 200 supporters have joined our list of season ticket holders by taking up the offer of the 8 Pack and guaranteeing their place for the rest of the regular season games at Welford Road, as well as priority for any knockout fixtures.”

For match tickets or 8 pack half season tickets, contact the Tigers ticket office on 0844 856 1880, book online or call in at Welford Road. The ticket office is open until 9pm on Wednesdays.
