As defending Guinness Premiership champions, Tigers host Newcastle Falcons at Welford Road on Saturday, September 19 (5.35pm kick-off) when the new Caterpillar Stand will be opened for the first time.
Demand for tickets has been huge with sales topping the stadium’s previous capacity of 17,500 before the end of August and passing the 20,000 mark last weekend.
“We are absolutely delighted with the interest from supporters in the first game using the new Caterpillar Stand,” said Leicester Tigers chairman Peter Tom CBE.
“This will be the team’s first home league game since the Guinness Premiership and Heineken Cup Finals in May and it is sure to be a great occasion.
“We have sold well over 20,000 tickets already and all the signs are that the game will be sold out sometime early next week.”
Remaining tickets are on sale now and supporters are urged to act quickly to guarantee the best possible seats – and share in a record league crowd at Welford Road.
“The new Caterpillar Stand looks superb and a capacity crowd would really provide a fantastic backdrop for the opening home game of the season,” added Peter Tom.
To mark this special occasion, tickets are priced just £15 adults, £10 young adults/full-time students and £5 juniors. There is free entry for under-10s if accompanied by a paying adult.
