We are offering a fantastic opportunity for Junior Tigers Club members to lead the teams on to the pitch as matchday mascots when international rugby returns to Welford Road on February 1 for the England Saxons fixture against Ireland A.
The offer is open to the first 44 Junior Tiger Club members aged between eight and 14 to book their tickets for the match. The deadline to take part, subject to availability, is Monday, January 21.
Each applicant must be a member of the Junior Tiger Club and must have match tickets for themselves and an accompanying adult.
The Saxons represent the final stepping stone before senior international rugby and the vast majority of England’s World Cup squad of 2007 made an impression at this level before making the ultimate step up to the senior ranks.
The successful Saxons squad won the Barclays Churchill Cup at Twickenham last season and will be hoping to build on that as the players aim to stake a claim for inclusion in the seniors in the run-up to the next World Cup in 2011.
This season’s Saxons include five Leicester Tigers players – Dan Hipkiss, Tom Varndell, Ollie Smith, Richard Blaze and Jordan Crane - and club favourite Graham Rowntree has been named among the coaching staff in his role with the RFU. The Ireland squad is still to be selected but Tigers had three players capped at that level last season and will hope for representation again this term.
To book your tickets – and the chance to lead out the two teams in front of a big Welford Road crowd – contact the Tigers ticket office from 9am on Monday, by calling 08701 28 34 30 or call in at Welford Road.
