Sell-out would be great says Cockerill

Richard Cockerill is hoping for a capacity Welford Road crowd on Saturday when supporters have the opportunity to welcome home Leicester Tigers' World Cup stars for the EDF Energy Cup match against Cardiff Blues.

With the Welford Road stadium now boasting a capacity of more than 17,000 thanks to a new Clubhouse Stand this season, even more Tigers supporters can acknowledge their favourites - and there are still tickets on sale.

Acting head coach Cockerill has had all of his international players back this week following the Rugby World Cup, including club captain Martin Corry, Lewis Moody and Ben Kay who all started the World Cup Final in France.

"It has been a good week," said Cockerill. "It is good to get the Test players back in and getting them integrated into the squad, they are quality players. I would hope to have them involved in the squad this weekend."

Cardiff Blues have enjoyed a good start to the season with seven wins in eight games in all competitions. They are top of the Magners League and beat Sale Sharks in their EDF opener last weekend.

"This is an important game for us," added Cockerill. "We lost our opening game in this competition at Bath and we do not want to lose again.

"We are at home and we do not like losing at Welford Road at any time, and also we won this competition last season after reaching the semi-finals in 2006 so we want to keep that run going.

"We're hoping this weekend, with all the players back in contention, that the team will give the crowd something to cheer about and a big crowd can create a great atmosphere here. It would be fantastic to get a sell-out crowd."

If you have not secured your ticket, contact the Tigers ticket office on 08701 28 34 30, online at http://www.leicestertigers.com/ or call in at Welford Road.
