Send Super Kev on his way at Tigers stadium

The Leicester Tigers stadium will be open on Monday morning to allow supporters to give Kevin Sinfield a big send-off for a remarkable fundraising challenge.

Rugby league legend Sinfield, now defence coach at Tigers, is running from Mattioli Woods Welford Road to Headingley Rugby Stadium in Leeds in support of the motor neurone disease community, covering the 101-mile route in 24 hours.

He has set an initial target to raise £100,000 which will be split between the MND Association and the appeal to build The Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease in Leeds.

His run will be split into 7km sections, to mark former team-mate Burrow’s shirt number, with each section to be completed within an hour.

Supporters can join the send-off at the Tigers stadium, taking seats in the North Stand from the turnstiles next to Gate 1 (the Aylestone Road end of the North Stand) open from 8.00am.

Or you can show support for Kevin along the way as he heads north.

Unfortunately for safety and logistical reasons, the public will not be able to join the run as the route will not be marshalled or closed off to traffic.

To support the Extra Mile Challenge you can donate online here.

Headingley stadium will also be open to supporters from 7.00am on Tuesday morning for the run’s grand finale.
