Assistant Academy manager Tosh Askew says the JP Morgan Asset Management Premiership Rugby Sevens Series will be a good test for Tigers young squad.
Tigers travel to Edgeley Park for the northern leg where they face Newcastle Falcons, Worcester Warriors and hosts Sale Sharks in front of the ESPN cameras on Friday night.
Tigers travel to Edgeley Park for the northern leg where they face Newcastle Falcons, Worcester Warriors and hosts Sale Sharks in front of the ESPN cameras on Friday night.
A young squad will be aiming for a place in next week’s final at The Stoop alongside Harlequins, Bath Rugby, Saracens, and London Wasps, who qualified from the opening two rounds.
Askew said the tournament would help provide good experience for the Tigers youngsters and help develop their core skills.
“It will provide exposure for the younger lads, both in terms of the level of opposition and of playing in front of the television cameras,” says Askew.
“It’s about exposing players to levels where they can prove they can step up.
“In terms of attitude, it is a massive guide to the sort of players that we want at Tigers and the core skills of passing, evasion and tackling are tested.”
