Ed Slater has thanked supporters for their messages after making his 100th appearance for Leicester TigersSlater reached the landmark in Sunday’s Aviva Premiership clash with Bath Rugby at Welford Road.
The Tigers club captain made his first start of the season and played his role in a 21-11 victory that moved Tigers into third in the table.
And afterwards, Slater tweeted: “Thanks for the messages. It's a real privilege to play for Leicester."
Slater, who has scored eight tries in his 100 appearances for the club, added: “We’re pleased with the start to the season but we have to take each game as it comes. We know there is a long run of games this year because of the World Cup pushing everything back.
“Now we move on to Worcester next week, which will be another big challenge.”
The messages included tweets from teammates including Marcos Ayerza, who wrote “congrats Slats for 100 more at least” and Jordan Crane, who added “congrats to the big swede Ed Slater on his 100th many more to come”.
And they came from fans too, including @adiuk_28, who tweeted “congrats on your milestone of 100 caps #captain #Tigers" and @huggies28, who added Congrats to Ed Slater for a mighty 100 appearances for the mighty Leicester Tigers!”
