Leicester Tigers are pleased to announce a new community partnership with rugby charity Star* Scheme.

Star* is a charity using rugby as a vessel to create positive change in the lives of young people who have experienced adversity in childhood.

The exciting collaboration will see Tigers Community coaches work alongside Star* to engage young people in rugby and create opportunities for them to join local clubs.

Leicester Tigers coaches will head into schools to help increase interest in the game, while Star* will aim to remove any barriers that child may face in becoming part of a local rugby club.

When asked about the partnership, Leicester Tigers Community Manager, Dan Hemingway said: "The work Star* has done in other areas of the country shows the profound impact rugby and rugby people can have on the lives of others. Everyone involved in rugby believes in the values of the game and how it can shape lives.

"Star* are so passionate about their work with children with multiple ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) and we look forward to working with them to share this opportunity with young people in schools and rugby clubs across the various Tigers Regions."

Star Scheme Regional Manager for the Midlands, Alan Hubbleday, added: "We are excited at Star* Scheme to be partnering with the Leicester Tigers Community team.

"Together we can support grassroots rugby clubs to transform the lives of young people who have multiple ACEs or mental health issues, whilst growing the game."
