Jasper Wiese and Freddie Steward were among the leading performers in Round 5 of the Gallagher Premiership, according to league statisticians OPTA.

Leicester Tigers back row Wiese was the Gallagher Premiership man of the match in the 36-31 win over Bath on Sunday and also led the way overall in Round 5, ranking first on defenders beaten (9) and clean breaks (3), joint-first on metres gained (88) and second on carries (16) in an impressive day’s work.

Full-back Steward was third overall on carries (14) and fourth on metres gained (84) across all fixtures during the weekend.

Team-mate Calum Green was prominent in lineouts won (ranked fourth) and alongside George Martin topped his side’s tackle count with 14, while Harry Wells made two lineout steals.

In OPTA’s figures for the Gallagher Premiership season so far, Steward and Wiese are among the league leaders in carries, metres and defenders beaten, while Green and Hanro Liebenberg are in the top 10 on lineouts.

Wells is top of the team’s tackle numbers with 47 from four games played, followed by Liebenberg 46, Wiese 44 and Green 43.
