Market Harborough schools participating in a tag rugby programme run by The Nottingham Building Society and Leicester Tigers came together in a finale festival to celebrate the progress they have made this year.

The Nottingham Building Society tag rugby programme is a free scheme run over five weeks in schools followed by a festival at a local club. During these sessions Tigers community coaches work with pupils to develop their rugby knowledge and abilities in a fun environment while also encouraging healthy lifestyles and incorporating positive values that come from the Tigers training ground.

In the first year of the programme Tigers linked up with more than 50 schools around Leicestershire, introducing tag rugby and coaching to more than 2,000 children in Year 3 and 4 thanks to support from The Nottingham Building Society.

This season’s programme opened in the Market Harborough area, involving eight schools.

At the end of these sessions, the schools came together for a festival at Market Harborough Rugby Club and all players received a T-shirt and goodie bag from Dan Spendlow, branch manager for The Nottingham in Harborough, while demonstrating their rugby skills.

Participating teams came from Foxton Primary, Cottingham CofE Primary, Church Langton CofE Primary, Market Harborough CofE Primary, Fleckney CofE Primary, St Joseph’s Catholic Voluntary Academy and Little Bowden Primary.
