Leicester Tigers are delighted to announce that full-back Mathew Tait has agreed a new contract at Welford Road.An international cap while still a teenager and part of the England team that started the 2007 Rugby World Cup Final, Tait joined Tigers from Sale Sharks in 2011 and has made 70 appearances for the club, including the Aviva Premiership title-winning season in 2012/13.
Tait, 29, made 28 first-team appearances for Tigers in the 2014/15 season – the highest figure in his professional career – and ended the campaign with an appearance in the England XV that beat the Barbarians at Twickenham on Sunday.
Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill said: “Mat has enjoyed one of the most consistent seasons of his career this year and we’re delighted that he has now agreed to terms on a new contract here.
“He has played at the very highest levels of the game and has a lot of experience for a player still in his 20s. We look forward to his continued input as part of the senior core of the Leicester squad.”
