Premiership Rugby is aiming to inspire the current generation of primary school pupils with its new Premiership Rugby Champions education app.

Premiership Rugby Champions is an interactive cross-curriculum digital app, developed with expert learning technology company Aspire 2Be. With additional support from the CVC Foundation and BT Supporters Club, the app represents a significant advance in the schools programme within Premiership Rugby’s ‘Plan To Improve A Million Lives’ with a target of engaging 10,000 teachers by the end of this season.

Aimed at primary school teachers, the app features video content from players to bring rugby into the classroom and use the sport to inspire children across multiple subjects while developing their digital literacy and life skills.

Premiership Rugby Champions will provide FREE interactive themed project-based lesson plans for use in the classroom and outside.

With digital literacy at the heart of all content, the first resources will tackle health, with modules on tackling numeracy and character to follow as the term progresses.

“We know first-hand the power of rugby to inspire young people and the Premiership Rugby Champions app represents a great way to use this in the classroom,” said Scott Clarke, Leicester Tigers’ head of community.

“We have a great network of primary schools in our community and we’re looking forward to communicating this to them. We know our players can act as powerful role models to young people and it’s great that teachers are now able to leverage this and include rugby in their lesson plans.”
