The Tigers Academy recorded an eleven-point, 17-28 win over the Yorkshire Academy in Round 4 of the U18 League season on Saturday afternoon at Otley Rugby Club.
A double to winger Josh Lugsden and tries to forwards Bobby Singer and Jordan Tebbatt secured the Leicester youngsters' second bonus-point victory of the campaign and means they remain atop the Northern Conference with two rounds remaining in the regular season.
It took just eight minutes for the Cubs to record their first of the afternoon through Lugsden, which fullback Ollie Smith converted, before second-rower Singer went over for his fourth of the season in the sixteenth minute.
Smith converted the score to see Tigers out to a 14-point lead.
Only three minutes later and Leicester had a third when back-rower Tebbatt scored and Smith was again on target from the tee as the lead was out to 21 points.
Yorkshire, playing with an extra man after a yellow card to Tigers lock Phil Tandoh, exploited the overlap to find their way over for a try in the 27th minute and converted the score to close the Leicester lead to 14 points, where it remained until the half-time break.
The home side flew out of the blocks in the second half with back-to-back tries, closing the Tigers lead to just four points, before the Cubs composed themselves and weathered the Yorkshire attack with a solid defensive effort in the final quarter of the match.
With just two minutes remaining, a second for Lugsden put an end to a potential losing bonus-point for Yorkshire and handed the visiting Leicester side victory and the try bonus-point to come away winners.
