The Tigers Academy recorded a third straight victory in this season's U18 League campaign with a 19-0 win over Newcastle Falcons Academy on Saturday afternoon at Oval Park.
A try in the first minute to Emeka Ilione put the Leicester youngsters in front after the back-rower charged down an attempted clearing box kick from the Falcons before toeing ahead the ball to dive on it and score.
Ollie Smith converted the try to extend the lead to seven points after just sixty seconds.
It was more than half an hour before the Tigers found their way over the chalk for a second, this time through Jake Sterland, after a well worked driving maul on the back of a line-out 5m out from the Falcons line pushed itself within inches of the visitors try-line and hooker Archie Vanes broke away to the blindside before finding the left winger in space with a perfect pass.
Smith's conversion went wide, leaving the difference at twelve points where it would remain to see the Cubs take a 12-0 lead into the half-time break.
Only three minutes into the second-half and another line-out for Leicester 5m out from the Falcons line was brought down and driven towards the try-line, which the Falcons collapsed and forced the referee into awarding a penalty try to the home side.
The lead was extended to 19-0, where it would be remain after a hard fought second-half without any further points from either side.
The Tigers Academy travel to Yorkshire in Round 4 on January 11 before hosting Worcester Warriors Academy on Saturday, January 25 at Oval Park in Round 5 and finishing the U18 League campaign in Round 6 away to Wasps on February 8.
